How I Became the Owner of a Pet Tarantula

When I was growing up I remember the talk shows having guests come on that had pet tarantulas. I couldn’t understand it. How could anyone want a pet spider, I would think to myself? They seemed so creepy. And what about the poison, how safe could it be? Today in my house we have not one but two pet tarantulas. So how did I get from then to now?

Serviam – I Will Serve

She has taught elementary school, high school, and college. She’s lived in the United States, Africa, and Brazil. She speaks French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Kikango, as well as English. She’s done simultaneous translations for international meetings in Belgium. Through all of this she’s had only one job. She’s a nun.
