Give Rats a Chance

Rats have been given a bad rap. They’ve been blamed for the plague (it was the fleas, people!) and vilified by thousands. Ask a person on the street for a description of a rat and you might get the following responses, “disgusting”, “dirty”, “nasty” “Ewww!. However, ask someone else and you might hear these comments, “sweet”, “intelligent”, “charming” “Awww!”. How can one animal get such opposing reactions? Simple, some people have discovered the joy of pet rats.

How I Became the Owner of a Pet Tarantula

When I was growing up I remember the talk shows having guests come on that had pet tarantulas. I couldn’t understand it. How could anyone want a pet spider, I would think to myself? They seemed so creepy. And what about the poison, how safe could it be? Today in my house we have not one but two pet tarantulas. So how did I get from then to now?
